We have worked hard to make Semlink user-friendly and engaging while maintaining the academic excellence associated with Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. However, it is important to understand that online learning is not suited for everyone. People who tend to succeed in Semlink classes often have these qualities:
To complete the course successfully requires time commitment and dedication to the course of study. To that end, students should plan on allocating appropriate time to listen to lectures, study course materials, and interact with the instructor and fellow students.
Our goal in offering online classes is to provide additional flexibility to your course schedule, and as a result, Semlink lectures and almost all interactive assignments can be completed at any time of the day or night. However, as with on-campus classes, what you get out of the class is heavily dependent on what you put into it, whether in terms of the amount of time you spend or the quality of time you designate. Students are encouraged to set aside regular times of study each week to get the most out of their courses.
Successful Semlink students take initiative in participating in online interactive experiences. Students should be proactive in contacting faculty, teaching assistants and/or Digital Education staff with questions and concerns as they arise. They are available and willing to help you. Problems are best addressed in the early stages of a course.
If you have any concerns about these qualities and your ability to fulfill the course requirements for a Semlink course, please feel free to contact the Digital Education team to discuss the matter further.
