Spend a lunch hour digging into Scripture with the Center for Preaching. Join our discussion of a chosen passages’ exegetical idea and explore how to preach it.

Big Idea Groups happen twice a semester, you can register for one or both this fall!

October 25 with Dr. Patricia Batten

Pat earned both her M.Div. and D.Min. at Gordon-Conwell. An experienced pastor, she serves as the Associate Director our our Center for Preaching. She has published two books, Parenting by Faith, and Models for Biblical Preaching, co-authored with Dr. Haddon Robinson.

Pat is known for telling a good story.  She retells old favorites.  She writes new ones.  She’ll even tell the biblical story from the perspective of a biblical character.

November 15 with Pastor Tim Bushfield

Tim earned his M.Div. at Gordon-Conwell and is currently working towards a Ph.D. through the London School of Theology. His Ph.D. studies are also part of the A.J. Gordon Guild partnership at Gordon-Conwell. He serves as the lead pastor of Community Church in Gloucester, MA.

Prior to joining Community Church, Tim’s ministry experience included involvement with InterVarsity, pastoral internships, summer camp ministry, college ministry teams, and wilderness camping ministries.
